John & Judy Southworth
John and Judy were both raised in Christian families; John in Memphis, Tennessee, and Judy as a missionaries’ kid in Peru, South America. They met in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Judy was working as a teacher and John had just finished law school. They have been married since 1975 and have one grown daughter.
John has worn two “hats” throughout his career: practicing law as a “day job” and being involved in ministry. He has a BA in political science from Vanderbilt University; a law degree from the University of Tennessee; a Masters from Covenant Theological Seminary; and, a PhD in systematic theology from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia). He is an honorably retired Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church in America, and has been active in missions and adult education for a number of decades, preaching and teaching in the US and in the majority world. He is or has been an adjunct professor at several colleges and seminaries.
